Hartman Rock Garden is probably the best kept secret in Ohio. A masterpiece of outsider art, the rock garden was built by George “Ben” Hartman between 1932-1944 after being laid off during the Great Depression. It is a mix of concrete molds and stone sculptures depicting historical events and pop culture. The only way to truly “get it” is to take a look hartmanrockgarden.org.
I developed the logotype and promotional materials for the relaunch after its restoration in 2009. The logotype is an obvious reference to the stone sculptures and the poster features one of the most iconic parts of the rock garden, the cactus.
